Washington, 20 August (IranVNC)—Iran’s space agency officials announced today that Iran plans to send an astronaut into space within the next 10 years.
Reza Taqipour, head of Iran’s Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), told Fars News Agency today that: “Iran is planning to create conditions to fly its first astronaut into space within 10 years.”
“In six months to a year, the exact date of this mission will be determined,” Taqipour said.
Taqipour confirmed cooperation with Italy and Russia regarding the peaceful use of space technology, but stressed that the missile for the satellite that was launched into space on Monday was Iranian manufactured.
“The satellite is scheduled to enter Earth’s orbit within next 12 months, and sending a man to space is one of Iran’s goals in the next 10 years,” he added.
