IRAN – MINISTER – ISRAEL

Washington, 30 June (IranVNC)—Iran’s Defense Minister, Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar, today, accused Israel of a psychological warfare against Iran, the state-run Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting [IRIB] reported on its website.

"The Zionists’ attempt to get rid of its internal crisis and cover up its crimes and massacre of innocent Palestinian civilians by resorting to such a psychological war and media campaign against Iran,” IRIB quotes the defense minister as saying.

Mohammad-Najjar’s comments follow a recent report that Israel carried out military exercises over the Mediterranean in early June, during which Israeli war planes flew a distant equivalent to that between Israel and Iran. A US official said last week that he believed that the Israeli exercise was meant to warn the U.S. and other world powers that Israel would act to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons if diplomatic measures failed.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map”. Israel says Iran’s hostility towards Israel, combined with its nuclear program, pose the greatest threat to Israel’s existence.
