Washington, 12 August (IranVNC)—Coalition forces in Iraq have arrested nine suspected members of the Kata’ib Hezbollah [Hezbollah Brigades], a pro-Iran insurgent group, today in a predominantly Sunni area of Baghdad, according to the US military.

“Intelligence sources led Coalitions forces to the location of a suspected Kata’ib Hezbollah associate believed to be in control of at least one terrorist cell operating in the southern Iraqi city of Basra,” said an official US military press release.

The statement said the forces detained the man and three others in the northern district of Adhamiyah during a military operation initiated late last night.

During two other coalition operations in the same district, five more men were arrested, and forces confiscated weapons and electronic equipment that would have been used to build improvised rocket-assisted mortars, the press release said.

According to the Multi-National Forces in Iraq, the group is an “offshoot of the Iranian-trained special groups,” but “separate and independent” from it.

Their logo is nearly identical to that of Iran- supported Lebanese Hezbollah.

Kata’ib Hezbollah members are known for filming their attacks on Coalition Forces, and using their films to raise funds for future attacks.
