U.S., Israel, Turkey to practice rescue missions

Washington, 19 August (IranVNC)—Naval ships and aircrafts from the United States, Israel, and Turkey will perform a trilateral humanitarian search and rescue exercise in the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea today in hopes to strengthen international coordination in potential maritime and humanitarian emergencies, Xinhua news agency reports.

Washington, 19 August (IranVNC)—Naval ships and aircrafts from the United States, Israel, and Turkey will perform a trilateral humanitarian search and rescue exercise in the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea today in hopes to strengthen international coordination in potential maritime and humanitarian emergencies, Xinhua news agency reports.

The exercise, named “Reliant Mermaid”, comes in the ninth year that the three countries have rehearsed joint humanitarian rescue missions, and will be launched out of the Israeli port city of Haifa, reports the Turkish Press website.

“By enhancing their interoperability, cooperation level during the exercise, elements of the three naval and air forces will be able to respond more efficiently to emergencies in the future,” Xinhua news agency quoted Israeli Commander Ilan Shriqui as saying yesterday.

The exercises will take place from 17 to 22 August.
