SHOOTING STORIES - VIDEOGRAPHY & PHOTOGRAPHY
1.) VIDEOGRAPHY – Please follow these principles when shooting video include:
a. Duration – Each shot should be no more than 20 seconds and try to keep your camera as steady as possible.
b. Foreground/Background – Cameramen should try to frame every shot with something dominant in the foreground and less dominant in the background. Every shot taken should tell something about the story.
c. Planned Motion – If you are going to move your camera, think about your move before you make it and move slowly.
d. Changing Locations – Only take between five to ten shots in any given location them move. Vary your perspective.
e. Interview Framing – Interviews can be longer than 20 seconds but the camera should be completely still. Your interviewees should NOT look directly into the camera but rather to the reporter standing to the left or right of the camera.
2.) PHOTOGRAPHY – Please follow these principles when shooting still photos include:
a. Foreground/Background – Cameramen should try to frame every shot with something dominant in the foreground and less dominant in the background. Every shot taken should tell something about the story.
b. Changing Locations – Only take between five to ten shots in any given location them move. Vary your perspective.
